Buni Moves Against Crime: 47 New Vehicles For Security Agencies In Yobe

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has reaffirmed that the protection of lives and property remains the foremost priority of his administration.

Speaking at a ceremony in Damaturu, the governor flagged off the distribution of 47 four-wheel drive vehicles and 50 motorcycles to various security agencies operating across the state. He explained that the gesture was aimed at boosting the operational capacity of security personnel and ensuring prompt response to emerging threats.

According to Ireporter Online, Governor Buni expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, for his continued support in strengthening peace and security in Yobe. He also commended officers of the military, police, civil defence corps, vigilante groups, and hunters for their unwavering commitment to safeguarding communities.

“The purpose of today’s occasion is to step up government’s efforts towards supporting security agencies, enabling them to carry out their duties effectively and efficiently,” Buni stated.

The distribution plan included one operational vehicle each for the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in the 17 local government areas, while additional vehicles were allocated to the State Police Command, Nigerian Army, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Correctional Service, Nigeria Civil Defence Corps, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), and the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC). Furthermore, each local government chairman received a vehicle to support grassroots security operations, alongside the allocation of 50 motorcycles to different agencies.

Governor Buni directed local government chairmen to take responsibility for maintaining the vehicles assigned to the police in their areas. His Special Adviser on Security Matters, Brigadier General Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd.), assured that the vehicles would be deployed judiciously to strengthen security operations in the state.

The ceremony, according to reports, underscored the Yobe government’s sustained commitment to addressing security challenges in the northeast, reflecting its determination to restore peace and stability in the region.
