A New Dawn for Iyekogba: Hon. Engr Esosa Iyawe FNSE Secures First First-Ever Secondary School to Community (Video)
In what has been described as a landmark breakthrough for education in Oredo Federal Constituency, Hon. Engr. Esosa Iyawe FNSE has once again proven the true meaning of people-driven representation. The lawmaker recently inspected the ongoing renovation and expansion works at Odia Primary School, Evbodia, Iyekogba, Edo State—a project already reshaping the future of over 40 surrounding communities.
The ambitious project covers the renovation of two blocks of 12 classrooms, construction of an additional block of six classrooms, installation of a borehole, modern toilet facilities, and a perimeter fence. During the visit, Hon. Iyawe expressed satisfaction with the quality of work, noting that the project is near completion.
The most remarkable achievement came through his intervention with the Edo State Ministry of Education, which approved the establishment of a Junior Secondary School section. This has officially transformed the institution into Odia Primary and Secondary School, the first-ever secondary school in the Iyekogba district—a dream long awaited by parents, pupils, and community leaders.
For the first time, children in these communities will enjoy uninterrupted access to both basic and secondary education without the burden of traveling long distances. It is a bold step toward reducing school dropouts, curbing illiteracy, and empowering a new generation to compete in today’s world.
Hon. Esosa Iyawe’s commitment to educational infrastructure highlights his vision of representation that delivers tangible impact. From bursary funds to solar streetlights and now the establishment of the first secondary school in Iyekogba, he continues to match words with action.
This milestone is not just about a school; it is about rewriting the story of a once-neglected community. By bringing education closer to the people, Hon. Iyawe has raised hope, dignity, and opportunity for countless families in Oredo.
Watch the video of this transformation and see why effective representation truly matters.
