Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Lateef Adedimeji, has reiterated that fame is temporary and should never be the yardstick for measuring a person’s worth.

Speaking at a recent conference, the multiple award-winning star cautioned against prioritising popularity over substance, urging young talents to focus on developing their craft and building enduring values.

According to Ireporter Online, Adedimeji explained that when the spotlight eventually dims, individuals are left with their true identity, which is ultimately defined by values and purpose rather than applause or recognition.

In his words, “Fame is fake. The truth is, fame doesn’t define you—identity does. Your values, your purpose. Fame can come and go. Many come into the industry with the mindset of chasing fame first, without honing the craft. But when the spotlight shines, what will it find? Who will you be when the cheering stops?”

He added that beyond the glamour and attention, every individual must return to themselves, emphasizing that self-awareness, integrity, and discipline are what truly sustain relevance.
