Lagos Assembly Showdown: Obasa Demands Legal Process Before Removal

Obasa made his stance clear during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he explained that the process of reconvening the House after a recess must follow the rules, involving the Majority Leader, the Clerk, and the Speaker. According to Obasa, any attempt to bypass these steps would be invalid.

He further clarified that Mojisola Meranda, his successor, withdrew from the race for the Speaker’s position following a meeting with party leadership. Obasa also noted that the withdrawal of Meranda’s security detail was done without his consent or knowledge but did not raise any complaints.

On rumors that his political struggles were due to an ambition to become Governor or a lack of respect for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Obasa denied these claims. He reiterated his respect for the Governor and dismissed any notion of friction between them.
