Obaseki’s ‘Do or Die’ Politics Takes Centre Stage As PDP Reportedly Recruits Fake SWAT to Take Opposition Out Of Circulation
Press Release
The APC New Media Directorate is deeply alarmed by a sinister scheme revealed in recent days, a scheme that has been dangerously validated by Governor Godwin Obaseki’s recent ‘do or die’ rhetoric. This reckless statement has not only incited fear but also appears to have emboldened the Edo State PDP to escalate their nefarious tactics as the September 21 gubernatorial election approaches.
According to allegations, the PDP is recruiting fake Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) operatives agents as part of a frightening strategy. These impostors are luring opposition members from distant locations under the guise of official meetings with high-ranking SWAT officers and police commissioners . The true intention is to forcibly detain these individuals if they resist, thereby putting their lives at grave risk. This tactic is a blatant attempt to suppress opposition voices and undermine the democratic process.
Governor Obaseki’s inflammatory ‘do or die’ remarks at a recent PDP mega rally have given disturbing credence to this violent agenda. His statement, which calls for a ruthless approach to the election, seems to have inspired the PDP’s use of counterfeit SWAT operatives as a tool of intimidation. By publicly endorsing a ‘do or die’ mentality, Obaseki has essentially validated and encouraged these reckless actions, further endangering the lives of those who dare to oppose his regime.
Additionally, reports indicate that armed thugs, likely affiliated with the PDP, are being stationed at the residences of targeted opposition figures. This strategy is designed to instill fear and exert psychological pressure on both the opposition members and their families, creating a pervasive climate of intimidation.
The APC New Media Directorate urges all citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies immediately. It is crucial that we stand united against these dangerous tactics and protect the integrity of our electoral process.
To the PDP and Governor Obaseki, we issue a stern warning: Your ‘do or die’ rhetoric and the ensuing violent tactics will not go unchecked. The people of Edo State are resolute in their commitment to a free, fair, and transparent election, and we will not be deterred by attempts to undermine our democratic principles through fear and deception.
Stay alert, safeguard your communities, and let us work together to ensure a secure and fair election.
Signed,
Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah
