Power Struggle: APC Speaks On Ganduje’s Fate Amid Tinubu’s Alleged Plans
As the All Progressives Congress (APC) prepares for its upcoming National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, the party leadership has dismissed speculations that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu may request the resignation of National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje……..READ MORE
Speaking in an interview with The PUNCH ahead of the National Caucus meeting, APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, debunked the claims, describing them as baseless.
“There is nothing like that. The NEC meeting is a routine gathering, not an elective one. We’ve been trying to hold it since September last year. It has now been confirmed that a national caucus will meet on Tuesday, followed by the NEC on Wednesday,” Basiru stated.
According to him, the meeting will focus on planning APC’s projects for 2025, reviewing financial reports as required by electoral law, updating members on the re-registration exercise, and briefing stakeholders on the establishment of the Progressive Institute—an intellectual and ideological wing of the party.
The NEC meeting marks Ganduje’s first major engagement with party stakeholders since assuming the position of APC National Chairman. His appointment, along with that of Basiru, was ratified at the last NEC meeting on August 3, 2023, in Abuja.
President Bola Tinubu will chair the high-level meetings, with key political figures such as Vice President Kashim Shettima, former President Muhammadu Buhari, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, APC governors (past and present), state party chairmen, the National Working Committee (NWC), and other party stakeholders expected to be in attendance.
