Senator Monguno Urges Swift Government Response To Renewed Boko Haram Threat In Borno

Senator Mohammed Monguno, who represents Borno North in the National Assembly, has called for decisive government action in response to the renewed activities of Boko Haram insurgents in Borno State.

The senator disclosed that the security meeting was convened in light of the recent resurgence of Boko Haram attacks across the state. The objective, he explained, was to reassess current strategies and advocate for the reallocation of security resources—particularly personnel and logistics—that had previously been diverted to the northwestern region.

“There is an urgent need to redirect focus and resources back to the northeast, especially Borno State, to effectively tackle the renewed insurgency,” he said.

Highlighting the critical nature of the region’s security challenges, Monguno noted that his senatorial district has been severely impacted by Boko Haram’s prolonged campaign of violence.

He further explained that the meeting brought together all key stakeholders in the nation’s security architecture to collaboratively devise actionable strategies for restoring peace.

“We gathered all relevant security actors under one roof to exchange ideas, strengthen coordination, and develop a unified approach to dealing with this menace,” Monguno added.

The senator reiterated that national security remains the bedrock of good governance and that any failure in this regard must be addressed with urgency and resolve.
