at the Lagbaja family home in Ibadan, Mr. Lagbaja lamented that his late relative didn’t have the chance to enjoy life outside of military service.

“It’s unfortunate that our dear son did not live to enjoy life after his military career,” he shared, noting that the family had hoped Lt. Gen. Lagbaja would retire and relish the fruits of his dedicated service.

Despite the profound loss, the family has come to terms with the situation, finding solace in their faith. “Some tears will never dry,” Mr. Lagbaja remarked. He added that while they wished for a different outcome, they are proud of the legacy Lt. Gen. Lagbaja left behind.

Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja devoted his entire career to the military after completing his A-levels at the Polytechnic. His unwavering commitment to duty, the family said, was always clear, and they remain proud of his service.

“We hoped for a different future, but what has happened, has happened. We must accept God’s will, but we remain proud of the man he became. All we can wish him now is eternal peace,” Mr. Lagbaja said.

The family expressed their gratitude for the visit, with the St. Charles Grammar School delegation, led by Mr. Sola Omopo, the chairman of the school’s board of trustees, presenting a heartfelt condolence letter. Omopo praised the late general for his contributions to the school, noting that he had been a proud supporter and was actively involved in building a N550 million project for the institution, which was nearly completed at the time of his passing.

The delegation also expressed their shock at the news of his death, emphasizing the impact it had on both the Nigerian and international communities.
