Lagbaja Family Expresses Regret: Army Chief’s Retirement Dreams Shattered By Early Death
He lamented that the family had hoped the late General would retire after his military service and enjoy the fruits of his labor. “What happened, happened, and we must submit to the will of God,” he said, while noting that “some tears will never dry.” He praised his late son for making the family proud, adding, “All we can wish him is eternal peace.”
Appreciating the visit from the Old Boys Association, Lagbaja mentioned that since his passing, the late Chief of Army Staff had been highly praised. Earlier, Mr. Sola Omopo, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the school, led the delegation in presenting a condolence letter, eulogizing the late officer’s contributions to the school. He recalled the deceased’s ongoing project of constructing a N550 million facility for the school, which was nearly completed at 80%.
Omopo also shared that the shocking news of Lt. Gen. Lagbaja’s death prompted the association, both in Nigeria and abroad, to visit the grieving family.
