Oluyede, who is 56 years old, previously served as the 56th Commander of the elite Infantry Corps of the Nigerian Army based in Jaji, Kaduna. His extensive military career includes a series of pivotal command roles, showcasing his leadership capabilities and experience in various military operations, including the ECOMOG Mission in Liberia and Operation HADIN KAI in Nigeria’s Northeast.

The appointment comes at a critical time for the Nigerian military, as it faces numerous security challenges across the country. Oluyede shares a long-standing history with Lt. General Lagbaja, both being commissioned as officers in 1987 and members of the 39th Regular Course. With a track record of distinguished service and numerous accolades, including the Corps Medal of Honour and the Grand Service Star, Oluyede’s leadership is expected to guide the army through current operational challenges while maintaining stability and security in the region.
