This warning, conveyed by the Board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, in Abuja, comes in response to a lawsuit filed by Mrs. Ifeanyi Eke against JAMB regarding inappropriate text messages sent to her 15-year-old daughter during registration.
JAMB Registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede, disclosed that the Board promptly reported the incident to security agencies for appropriate action. However, Mrs. Eke proceeded to file a N100 million lawsuit against JAMB, placing the burden on her child.
Oloyede reiterated JAMB’s readiness to engage with Mrs. Eke, emphasizing that the sender of the messages was not a JAMB employee but rather a fellow student. He emphasized that JAMB does not grant access to its data, indicating that the information was obtained from the minor’s phone.
Addressing the circumstances, Oloyede questioned how a 15-year-old could be preparing for university, emphasizing the legal framework requiring 18 years of age for tertiary education enrollment.
Recall that Mrs. Eke filed a N100 million lawsuit against JAMB and three others in the Federal High Court in Lagos over alleged unsolicited and inappropriate text messages sent to her daughter.
