Okpebholo Makes Bold Move With New Appointments To Drive State Progress

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has approved the appointment of Professor (Mrs.) Eunice Eboserehimen Omonzejie as the new Vice Chancellor of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma. The appointment, announced in a “Special Government Announcement” by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, takes effect immediately.

The appointment follows the recommendation of three candidates put forward by the University’s Governing Council. Governor Okpebholo highlighted that Professor Omonzejie was selected in recognition of her academic excellence, extensive administrative experience, and dedication to the growth and development of the institution.

The Edo State Government congratulated Professor Omonzejie, urging her to leverage her expertise and leadership skills to advance AAU’s mission of producing world-class graduates and promoting research and innovation.

A distinguished scholar of French and Francophone African Literatures, Professor Omonzejie has served for many years in the Department of Modern Languages at AAU. She is a prolific researcher and editor, contributing significantly to African and Francophone literary studies, gender studies, and cultural scholarship.

Her leadership extends beyond academia, having served as President of the Ambrose Alli University Chapter of the National Association of Women Academics (NAWACS), where she championed mentorship, research, and advocacy for female academics and students. Professor Omonzejie has co-edited notable works, including French Language in Nigeria: Essays in Honour of UFTAN Pacesetters and Language Matters in Contemporary West Africa, and authored Women Novelists in Francophone Black Africa: Views, Reviews and Interviews.
