Legend Of The Seeker: Esosa Iyawe Makes Top List Of Best Performing New Lawmakers In The 10th Assembly
In a new report released by the Centre for Legislative Performance and Civic Engagement (CeLPCE), Hon. Engr. Esosa Iyawe FNSE, representing Oredo Federal Constituency, has been ranked among the top-performing first-time lawmakers in Nigeria’s 10th National Assembly — an achievement that has set the political space abuzz.
According to CeLPCE, the assessment focused on three key pillars — legislative contribution, oversight participation, and constituency engagement — and Hon. Iyawe “ticked all the right boxes” across the board.
Legislative Excellence at the Green Chambers
In just over a year, Hon. Iyawe has sponsored and co-sponsored several bills and motions targeted at improving infrastructure, youth empowerment, and federal presence in Oredo. His interventions during plenary have been described as articulate, data-driven, and people-centred.
CeLPCE particularly highlighted his motion on improved power supply and infrastructure rehabilitation, his active participation in committee work as a member of the House Committees on Works and Youth Development, and his vocal advocacy for Oredo’s interests on the floor of the House.
Impactful Constituency Empowerment
Beyond Abuja, Hon. Iyawe’s footprint is visible across Oredo. The report praised his empowerment programs — from distributing buses to improve local transportation, to facilitating federal jobs for constituents, providing health interventions, bursaries, and skill acquisition training.
“Hon. Iyawe is redefining what representation means. He is present, accessible, and responsive to the needs of his people,” CeLPCE stated, citing the overwhelming testimonials from residents who say their lawmaker’s impact is being felt like never before.
A Model for New Legislators
The group concluded its report by describing Hon. Iyawe as “a model for first-term lawmakers,” urging others to emulate his style of combining serious legislative work with grassroots engagement.
Political observers say this recognition not only validates the trust Oredo people placed in him but also raises the bar for effective representation in Edo State and beyond.
The report was signed by Comrade Ibrahim Adekunle, Executive Director of the Centre for Legislative Performance and Civic Engagement (CeLPCE), who reaffirmed the group’s commitment to holding lawmakers accountable while celebrating those delivering value to their constituents.
