The Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Damagum, has cautioned party members against acts of betrayal, warning that every action has its consequences.

Speaking during a meeting with the Forum of State PDP Chairmen on Thursday, Damagum emphasized the inevitability of karma, urging those who had deviated from the party’s principles to retrace their steps and uphold integrity.

According to Ireporter Online, the PDP leader reminded members that loyalty to the institution that elevated them was non-negotiable. He stated, “I want to use this opportunity to call on our colleagues that the devil is using to see wisdom in casting the devil in them, because treachery—especially to an institution that has made you what you are today—will not heal. You may be lucky now, but there is the law of karma. What goes around comes around.”

Damagum further maintained that turning to divine guidance should not be mistaken for weakness, stressing that God ultimately judges everyone by their actions. “We exist because God exists. We owe everything we do to Him. He is watching us. He will judge us by our behaviour. A word is enough for the wise,” he added.

Dismissing claims that the PDP had become politically irrelevant, Damagum insisted that the party remains a major force in Nigeria’s political landscape. “People are saying the PDP is dead. Today, in Nigeria, the story is about the PDP. You don’t tell a story of something that does not exist. This is proof that the PDP is alive and ready to navigate the challenges within our fold and those facing the nation,” he said.

The PDP chairman also cautioned the federal government against attempts to intimidate or harass members of the opposition, asserting that power is transient. “This country belongs to all of us. We are law-abiding citizens, and we will continue to pursue our dreams lawfully. We will not be intimidated by anyone who feels that, because God has given him the opportunity, he can behave the way he likes. It is a temporary one. And one day, everyone who does what is not right will be at the front,” he warned.
