“Pepper Dem!” — Sabi Chef 2025 Set To Reward Nigeria’s Hottest Street Chef With ₦2m
According to Ireporter Online, the much-anticipated Sabi Chef Street Food Festival and Competition is set to return for its third edition, promising an even bigger celebration of Nigerian street cuisine. The organisers disclosed that the winner of this year’s contest will take home a grand prize of ₦2 million, a reward that continues to attract passionate food enthusiasts and culinary talents from across the country.
Since its debut in 2023, Sabi Chef has grown into one of Nigeria’s most vibrant food festivals, spotlighting the creativity and diversity of local street delicacies—from suya and shawarma to boli and buns. Beyond the cooking challenge, this year’s event also introduces a humanitarian initiative titled “Feed 1000”, designed to provide hot meals for 1,000 underprivileged children.
Founder of Sabi Chef, Olushola Ewuola, explained that the initiative aims to spread warmth and compassion beyond the kitchen. “This year, we’re turning up the heat not just in the kitchen, but in the hearts of Nigerians,” he said, adding that the goal is to give children on the streets a sense of belonging through a shared meal.
In addition, Ewuola announced a new partnership with Zuri Seasoning, a brand under UAC Foods, noting that the collaboration will infuse more flavour and excitement into the festival. “Zuri Seasoning understands taste,” he remarked. “Their energy and passion for local flavour make them the perfect partner for Sabi Chef.”
The festival’s brand ambassador, Chef Joy, revealed that this year’s theme, “Pepper Dem!”, encourages contestants to showcase boldness and authenticity through their dishes. “We want contestants to bring real Nigerian heat—the kind that excites the tongue and tells a story,” she said.
The grand finale will also feature a live musical performance by Segun Johnson, adding rhythm and flair to the vibrant culinary celebration.
Founded in 2023, Sabi Chef has continued to provide a platform for chefs and food lovers to express their creativity while fostering community-driven initiatives that reflect the heart and spirit of Nigerian culture.
