According to Ireporter Online, Nigerian comedian Freedom Okpetoritse Atsepoyi, popularly known as Mr. Jollof, has narrated his altercation with social media critic Martins Otese, widely recognised as VeryDarkMan (VDM), during a flight on Monday, November 17.

In a video released on his Instagram page, Mr. Jollof issued a public apology to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, United Nigeria Airlines, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, his family, passengers onboard the aircraft, and Nigerians at large for engaging in a physical confrontation in a public space.

He explained that the clash was an act of self‑defence, claiming that VDM approached him aggressively and provoked the situation. The comedian alleged that VDM hurled insults and threats at him while he was seated, prompting him to react when the critic moved closer.

Mr. Jollof reiterated that he regretted the incident and never intended to disrupt the flight or cause discomfort to passengers. He emphasised that the fight escalated only because he felt the need to protect himself.

When addressing why he bit VDM on the chest during the scuffle, the comedian likened his reaction to a survival instinct, saying he simply used “what God gave him,” adding that in a heated confrontation, “anything you see, you go take use am.”
