According to Ireporter Online, Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State has unveiled a N100 million empowerment initiative aimed at strengthening community development, supporting small and medium-scale enterprises, and enhancing economic independence among residents.

The launch ceremony drew beneficiaries, community leaders, artisans, youth groups, market associations, and members of the public. The council manager, while welcoming attendees, commended the chairman’s commitment to grassroots upliftment, noting that the initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes economic inclusion and social support. She urged beneficiaries to maximise the opportunity and assured them that the council would continue to create additional pathways for sustainable growth.

Council Chairman, Moyosore Ogunlewe, described the initiative as a strategic investment in the socio-economic advancement of Kosofe. He explained that the N100 million scheme was designed to support traders, artisans, young entrepreneurs, and vulnerable residents in need of financial backing to scale their businesses and improve their livelihoods.

Ogunlewe disclosed that beneficiaries would receive instant credit alerts, cutting out bureaucratic delays and ensuring smooth access to funds. He emphasised that this marks the first time Kosofe Local Government is implementing such a direct and expansive financial empowerment programme, expressing pride that the council is “rewriting history with the people at the centre.”
