Popular Nigerian vocalist Aituaje Iruobe, widely known as Waje, has confirmed that she is officially engaged. According to Ireporter Online, the 45-year-old singer revealed the news during an interview with Hip TV in Lagos, stating briefly, “I am actually engaged,” without offering additional details about her partner or the proposal.

The development comes months after Waje openly declared that she would not consider marrying a man who is not financially stable, stressing that her age does not give her the luxury of enduring the struggles that come with an unprepared partner.

In an earlier conversation on The Honest Bunch podcast, the singer recounted her difficult teenage years, revealing that the father of her daughter rejected the pregnancy and abandoned her. She also revisited her early career challenges, noting that she was the uncredited female vocalist on P-Square’s 2007 hit track Do Me. Waje explained that although her voice delivered the iconic chorus on the song, she received neither payment nor formal recognition for her contribution.

She recalled often having to convince people that she was the voice behind the chorus, a claim many doubted due to her absence from the official credits. Waje further explained that she was unable to appear in the Do Me video because she lacked a passport at the time of its production.

Her revelation adds to ongoing discussions about the early days of P-Square, the duo of Peter and Paul Okoye, who split in 2016 over personal and managerial disagreements, reunited briefly in 2021, and eventually returned to pursuing their solo careers.
