Air Peace Secures Approval for Lagos–São Paulo Direct Flights, Launch Slated for November

According to iReporter Online, Air Peace has received official approval to launch direct passenger flights between Lagos and São Paulo, Brazil, under the Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) signed between both nations.

The milestone agreement was sealed on Monday in Brasília by Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and Brazil’s Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Filhos, in the presence of Presidents Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

Confirming the development, Air Peace CEO Allen Onyema told journalists on Tuesday that the Lagos–São Paulo route was “long overdue” and would significantly enhance Nigeria’s international aviation presence.

According to iReporter Online, Onyema described the route as a strategic connection that will open new economic and tourism opportunities for both countries.

He revealed that the airline would begin with three weekly flights, with plans to increase frequency based on passenger demand and other operational considerations. The inaugural flight is scheduled for late November 2025.

According to iReporter Online, this will mark the first-ever direct air connection between Nigeria and Brazil operated by a Nigerian airline—a development industry experts believe could redefine West Africa’s air travel landscape.
