The funeral proceedings, conducted after the Fajr prayers, were attended by mourning family members, friends, and well-wishers.

Senator Bukar Ibrahim, who governed Yobe State during two separate tenures (1991-1992 and 1999-2007), later went on to serve three terms in the Senate. The distinguished politician passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024, while undergoing medical treatment in Saudi Arabia. At the age of 75, his legacy in Nigerian politics and governance is remembered by those who worked closely with him.

Yusuf Ali, Senior Special Assistant, Communications and Strategy to Governor Mai Mala Buni, confirmed the details of the funeral ceremony. The prayers, held twice after the Fajr prayers, marked the final farewell to a leader who had left an indelible mark on the political landscape of Yobe State.

Governor Mai Mala Buni, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of Senator Bukar Ibrahim, took steps to ensure that the late senator received an honorable and ceremonial state burial.
