Speaking at a security dialogue organized by the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation (GJF) in Abuja, the former president highlighted that insecurity is a major threat to Nigeria’s unity and economic growth. He noted that frustrations over delayed justice, heavy-handed security responses, and governance accountability have contributed to mistrust between citizens and security agencies.

Jonathan called for a shift from suspicion to cooperation, urging both sides to work together in ensuring stability. He also stressed that security is a shared responsibility that requires synergy between the government, security forces, and the public.

National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu, represented by his director of communication, reiterated the government’s commitment to a human rights-based approach in security operations. He also emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing Nigeria’s security concerns.
