Nationwide Storm: Troops Unleash Fierce Blow Against Terrorists

Nigerian troops have intensified nationwide operations against terrorists, bandits, and criminal networks, recording major breakthroughs over the weekend. The coordinated offensives, which stretched across all regions, led to the neutralisation of several insurgents, the arrest of key suspects, and the recovery of weapons, cash, and contraband.

In the Northeast, troops rescued kidnapped victims and seized arms during multiple engagements. Operations in Chibok, Geidam, and Gwoza Local Government Areas resulted in the elimination of terrorists, including fighters linked to ISWAP and JAS. Several arrests were also made, including suspected cattle rustlers and petroleum smugglers.

In the Northwest, air and ground assaults dealt heavy blows to armed groups in Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara, and Kaduna. Intercepted communications confirmed that at least 15 terrorists were killed during strikes in Katsina. A woman linked to notorious kingpin Ado Aliero was also arrested in Zamfara with cash and logistics supplies.

Troops in the Northcentral region dismantled bandit camps and recovered arms. In Benue, one armed herder was killed, while in Niger State, kidnapped victims and stolen cattle were rescued. In Plateau, AK-47 rifles were seized following intelligence operations, while in the Federal Capital Territory, criminals were arrested and a stolen vehicle recovered.

The Southsouth also witnessed major successes as troops disrupted illegal oil bunkering in Rivers and Delta States, recovering thousands of litres of stolen petroleum products and arresting suspects. In Oshimili South, individuals linked to IPOB/ESN and the production of improvised explosive devices were apprehended.

In the Southwest, joint operations in Lagos and surrounding areas led to the arrest of armed robbers, kidnappers, and drug traffickers, with large quantities of weapons and narcotics recovered.

A source at Army Headquarters disclosed that one female suspect arrested in Zamfara admitted to working as a drug courier for a terrorist commander. She was found with weapons, cash, and other incriminating items.

Operations also continued in Kogi State under Operation EGWUA A TITE II, where troops neutralised several bandits, destroyed hideouts, and rescued victims. Among those killed was Kachalla Bala, a notorious bandit leader, along with his fighters. Multiple weapons, motorcycles, and ammunition were recovered in the process.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining momentum against insurgents and criminal groups, stressing that ongoing operations are aimed at dismantling terror networks, restoring peace, and ensuring security to support national development and food security.
