No Room For Chaos: Abia Police Assure Total Peace Ahead Of Kanu’s Court Ruling
According to Ireporter Online, the Abia State Police Command has intensified security operations across the state ahead of today’s court judgment involving the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu. The command said the move is a precautionary step to maintain stability and prevent any potential disruption of public order.
Kanu, an Abia native, is expected to receive a crucial ruling today in his prolonged legal dispute with the Federal Government. Security agencies anticipate that the verdict could trigger varying public reactions, prompting proactive measures.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Maureen Chinaka, conveyed the assurances of the State Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, who affirmed that Abia remains calm but noted that comprehensive security arrangements are already in place ahead of the judgment.
The commissioner was quoted as saying that full security coverage has been deployed to monitor the state, adding that strategic measures have been implemented to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
Chinaka further disclosed that patrols and surveillance have been heightened across all localities, while the command continues to work closely with other security outfits to safeguard public peace.
She stressed that Abia remains secure, reiterating that the police, as the primary internal security agency, are fully prepared to protect residents and maintain order. According to her, the police have been conducting routine joint operations every Monday with other agencies, and similar readiness has been adopted for today’s proceedings.
She added that the command does not anticipate any form of unrest regardless of the outcome of the ruling, noting that officers are on the ground around the clock to ensure the state remains peaceful.
