According to Ireporter Online, traditional rulers from Southern Nigeria have appointed Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, as the Coordinator of the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council in recognition of his commitment to strengthening unity and promoting the role of monarchs in national development.

The appointment letter was formally presented to the governor in Owerri by the Council’s Chairman, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, alongside the Co-Chairman, Eze Cletus Ilomuanya, and Secretary, the Dein of Agbor, Obi Benjamin Ikenchukwu Keagboruzi I. They were accompanied by other members of the Council’s Technical Committee during the visit.

The Ooni commended Governor Uzodimma for his consistent support of traditional institutions and his efforts to ensure that monarchs occupy a significant place in the nation’s political, cultural, and traditional affairs. He explained that after a careful assessment of the governor’s contributions, the Council unanimously agreed that he was best suited to coordinate their activities in the collective interest of Southern Nigeria and the nation at large.

The monarch further informed the governor that the Council’s next general meeting would hold in Ogun State under the chairmanship of Governor Dapo Abiodun, who had agreed to host the gathering. He noted that the visit to Owerri also served as an opportunity to brief Uzodimma on the upcoming event and to deliver a letter requesting an audience with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, acknowledging the governor’s close working relationship with the presidency.
