According to Ireporter Online, the Super Eagles of Nigeria are set to commence their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) preparations on December 10. Head coach Eric Chelle and his squad will regroup ahead of the continental showpiece, which begins on December 21 in Morocco.

Nigeria has been placed in Group D alongside Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is expected to confirm the official venue for the team’s training camp in the coming days.

The three-time African champions will open their AFCON campaign on December 23 against Tanzania in the Moroccan city of Fez, as they aim to begin their journey toward securing a fourth continental crown.

Meanwhile, Sevilla striker Jerome Akor Adams has expressed delight following his maiden call-up to the national team. The 24-year-old forward is the only new addition to Nigeria’s 23-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin Republic.

Akor, who has been in impressive form for his Spanish club this season, emphasized that his main goal is to help the team succeed rather than chase individual accolades.

“I don’t see it as breaking into the team; my focus is simply to give my best whenever I’m called upon,” he told the Super Eagles media. “We support one another as a team, and when given the opportunity, you give your all.”

The former U-20 international could make his senior debut for Nigeria when the Super Eagles take on Lesotho on Friday at 5 p.m., as Coach Chelle continues his push for a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
