Tension In Abuja: Police Debunk Claims Of Blocking Bauchi Governor At PDP HQ

According to Ireporter Online, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has refuted a widely circulated video claiming that its personnel obstructed Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, from gaining access to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. The Command dismissed the footage as misleading and an inaccurate representation of what transpired at Wadata Plaza.

In a statement issued late Tuesday, the Police described the viral clip as entirely incorrect, stressing that no officer engaged in any altercation at the PDP headquarters. The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, explained that the entrance became congested due to the arrival of high-profile party stakeholders, prompting officers to intervene to restore order.

She noted that the officers only stepped in to disperse private security personnel and bouncers who had gathered tightly around the gate, causing unnecessary obstruction. Adeh emphasised that at no point were police operatives involved in a scuffle, nor did they prevent the Governor from entering the facility, contrary to the narrative being circulated online.

She added that the officers acted solely to ensure free movement and maintain decorum in preparation for the scheduled Board of Trustees and National Executive Committee meetings. The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Miller Dantawaye, urged Nigerians to verify information before sharing it on social media, warning that sensational and unverified posts could heighten tensions within the capital.

Dantawaye reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to preserving peace, safeguarding residents, and supporting all lawful political and civic activities across the FCT.
