The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has acknowledged marking errors in the serialized objective questions of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results. This announcement came during a media briefing in Lagos on Friday, where Dr. Amos Dangut, WAEC’s Head of National Office (Nigeria), disclosed that 62.96% of candidates scored credits or above in at least five subjects including English and Mathematics after the review.

The examination body faced criticism following the unexpected shutdown of its result-checker portal, attributed to “technical issues.” WAEC confirmed it is undertaking a comprehensive review to address glitches and bugs discovered in the recently released results.

Consequently, result checking on WAEC’s portal is temporarily suspended, and candidates who have already accessed their results have been instructed to recheck them once the review concludes.
