Waka Waka: Tinubu Breaks The Glass Ceiling In Electoral Campaigns As Datti Ahmed Weeps -Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah

Waka Waka, as it is known locally, refers to a lot of movement from one place to another. In one of his songs, Fela Kuti described his career-long travels throughout Africa and the nation. “I waka waka Waka..I go many places…”

Do you remember the Emilokan song, the original version sung by the Pyrate’s Confraternity, of which Peter Obi is reported to be a member? The confraternity practically insulted Tinubu to the high heavens in that song at their convention, which has since been remixed by the APC Edo State youth leader, Tony Kabaka.

They said “Hand dey shake, leg dey shake, Baba wey no well, e dey shout emi lokan” the video was well circulated and trended like mad.

Like the remixed Emilokan by Tony Kabaka  stated, Tinubu remains the best, which is why they support him.(“Emilokan, Emilokan… Baba wey do well  na make us  join Emilokan, Lagos today na small Dubai, Baba wey do well na make us join Emilokan.”)

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s campaign activities have not only demonstrated that he is above board and ahead of their shenanigans, but he has also broken the glass ceiling of electoral campaigns in the country.

It is one thing to argue about facts and quite another to accept them. Regardless of which side of the debate you are on, one fact remains: facts are facts and cannot be changed, regardless of whether you are in the minority or the majority.

Tinubu’s campaign schedule for this year alone has not been matched by any presidential candidate in our country’s history. Here is his timeline from the 1st of January to today, the 10th of January.

The day after being seen in London, Tinubu travelled to Mecca. The next day, he attended a stakeholders roundtable in Kano before travelling the same day to Lagos.
Only for him to return to Kano the following day for the major rally, which required him to spend more than four hours standing on an open roof bus while attempting to get to the event’s venue.

The same day as the Kano rally, Tinubu was greeted with fanfare in Benin City at the airport, where APC leaders were already awaiting his arrival. Tinubu landed around 11 p.m. and went over to the premises of the former Governor of the State, Adams Oshiomhole, where he spent the night.

According to my own observations during his visit to Edo State, Tinubu stayed till the wee hours of the morning planning with Oshiomhole and a large group of other political figures.

This indicates that it is regular for the presidential candidate. The following morning, Tinubu attended the well-attended rally in Benin City before travelling to Abuja for a town hall meeting with the youths.

The next day, Tinubu was seen in Ondo State, where he attended a presidential campaign rally, and from there, the Jagaban landed in Lagos, where the Arewa Community endorsed his candidature in large numbers. The following day, on the 9th, the Jagaban was already in Adamawa State for a presidential rally.

Tinubu is on his way to the Yobe State presidential rally today, the 10th of January. Tomorrow, he is expected to be in Enugu State, followed by an immediate trip to Akwa Ibom, and so on until election day.

His December tours were also similar; I know some people, envious of Tinubu’s fantastic health that allows him to do all of these things in a few days, would say, “ehh, isn’t it a private jet? Is he under stress, bla bla bla….

As firsthand witnesses to some of these movements, it has affected us in so many ways that we look forward to the day when it will all be over and we will be able to rest properly. If they know how stressful it is for these candidates to make their way to the venue of their events, they will not open their mouths to miss fire.

Tinubu has broken the glass ceiling in Nigerian electoral campaigns; he has done what no one else has done in trying to persuade voters why they should vote for him; he has demonstrated his fitness and capacity to lead.

Meanwhile news making the rounds is that the LP vice presidential candidate, Datti Ahmed, wept on live TV because of insults hurled at him on various platforms; he claims his father, who died 35 years ago, was insulted, and he was moved to tears.

Isn’t this amusing? Even Jonathan, as a seating president, was tagged as a goat, abi him no see picture of GOAT wey dem tag GEJ for full rally ? He hasn’t even received a quarter of the insults that his principal, Peter Obi, has, and yet he wept?

What would he do if he received 5% of the insults hurled at Tinubu? I’m sure he’d take his case to the higher realms for consideration.

What a shame that someone who claims to want to rule this country can’t handle insults from trolls. It just goes to show that if he gains power, people will go chop sand if they insult him.

Ironically, his subjects, known as Obidients, are the most unruly people on the planet; they insult you because you support Tinubu or Atiku, they insult your generation from your forefathers to the unborn because you support Tinubu, and yet Heaven has not fallen.

Some of my classmates who have known me for over 30 years insult me simply because I support Tinubu; they say I have sold my soul to the Devil; if they can insult a personal friend who knows his roots because of my opinions, imagine the insults they would direct at Tinubu.

It’s a shame that a grown man like Datti Ahmed can’t take insults from strangers. Buhari, Nigeria’s president, has received and continues to receive insults even as all of the presidency’s laudable projects come to light and are visible across all 36 states of the federation.

Even some people who enjoy the second Niger bridge, which is a critical national infrastructure with enormous socioeconomic benefits for neighbouring states and the entire country, would insult Buhari while using it.

Someone once said that my late father, Elder John Omo-Ikirodah, was exiled from his village in South Ibie simply because I spoke my candid opinion about Tinubu. My father was a renowned Statesman in Edo State and the nation as a whole.

We bathe in insults because we back Tinubu, yet a principal running for a national office can’t handle insults from strangers and breaks down in tears to solicit sympathy.

Perhaps he was unaware of how the Pirates fraternity made fun of the Jagaban. A leader that can not take insult from common Wasapp group na one come take insult from Nigerians when he becomes the Vice President?

Datti Ahmed should stop wallowing in self-pity and tell his boss to start campaigning aggressively like Tinubu, whom they accuse of not being physically fit.

Elections are not for the faint of heart; you must be bold and courageous to gain the trust of the people, which is what Tinubu is doing by travelling across the federation seeking votes; self-pity never helps anyone; it is a retrogressive spirit that should be abandoned in the new year.

As a final statement, let me use Winston Churchill’s quote.”You will never reach your destination if you stop and throw stones at every dog that barks.” .

Ogbeni self pity no dey solve problem be bold and courageous, na only you go fight your race.
