Tension In Abuja As Police Storm Uncompleted Buildings In Massive Security Raid

The Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ajao Adewale, has directed all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) under his command to intensify patrols and conduct thorough raids on uncompleted buildings and suspected criminal hideouts within their jurisdictions.

According to Ireporter Online, the directive forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security and safeguard lives and property across the FCT.

A statement issued on Tuesday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, noted that the order takes immediate effect and serves as a proactive measure to prevent criminals from using abandoned or active construction sites as shelters or operational bases. Property developers were advised to liaise with nearby police divisions to ensure that security guards, artisans, and labourers residing at project sites are properly documented and profiled before the end of October 2025.

The Commissioner further instructed DPOs to maintain consistent patrols in such areas and to apprehend any unidentified persons found on-site after 6:00 p.m. He also reaffirmed the total ban on scavenging activities—commonly referred to as “Baban Bola”—within the FCT. Residents have been urged to promptly report any scavengers or suspicious individuals spotted in their communities.

Emphasizing that security is a shared responsibility, CP Adewale appealed to residents, estate associations, and community leaders to cooperate with the police by reporting unusual movements, ensuring that domestic staff and security personnel are duly profiled, and refraining from accommodating unknown persons in residential premises.
