According to Ireporter Online, Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has emphasized that physical appearance plays a crucial role in the entertainment industry. She made the remark during an interview with Hip TV while addressing ongoing discussions about actors securing roles based on their physique and complexion rather than pure talent.

Jegede maintained that, although talent is fundamental, appearance remains a significant factor in show business because it is what the audience sees first. She noted that visual appeal often drives engagement and commercial success in the industry.

She explained, “Actors have several qualities they can rely on, not just their looks. But appearance is very important in showbiz because what people see is what attracts business. It matters greatly.” The actress added that many entertainers have advanced their careers through various means unrelated to physical appearance. However, she encouraged those whose strengths lie in their looks to confidently leverage them, noting that similar dynamics exist across many other sectors.

Speaking on remuneration in Nollywood, Jegede said earnings vary depending on one’s achievements and contributions over time. She asserted that actors who have remained consistent and paid their dues are more likely to receive fair compensation for their work. “I can’t speak for everyone, but for me, Nollywood pays the bills — not all of them, but it does handle a good part. I’m satisfied with how far the industry has come compared to the past,” she stated.
