“Tinubu Raises Alarm: ‘Nigeria’s Security Crisis Troubles Me More Than Anything’”
According to Ireporter Online, President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep concern over the persistent security challenges confronting Nigeria, describing the situation as one of the nation’s most pressing burdens.
Speaking in Kaduna on Saturday during the 25th Anniversary celebration of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and the unveiling of its Endowment Fund, the president—represented by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas—warned that urgent action is needed to halt further economic strain and educational setbacks across the country.
Tinubu stressed that insecurity remains the most disturbing issue facing Nigeria, particularly in the Northern region, and underscored the need to rebuild public confidence by restoring safety in affected communities. He noted that his administration inherited complex security problems but is confronting them with “urgency and determination.”
The president reaffirmed his government’s commitment to dismantling terrorist and bandit networks operating in the North while working to reverse the region’s ongoing economic decline. He expressed optimism about Northern Nigeria’s future, saying he eagerly anticipates the day crude oil tankers begin rolling out from Kolmani and other emerging oil fields.
Tinubu added that major infrastructure projects, including the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Superhighway, are being accelerated to ensure timely completion. He urged Northern leaders to speak boldly and truthfully about the region’s challenges, warning that progress will remain elusive if vulnerable communities continue to face neglect.
He cautioned that the nation fails “the day we sleep comfortably while millions go to bed hungry, and the day fear becomes a constant companion for travellers.”
