According to Ireporter Online, Pan-Atlantic University (PAU), Lagos, was thrown into tension on Tuesday night after students were instructed to remain in their hostels following reports of suspected bandit-like individuals sighted within the school premises.

The directive was issued through an emergency advisory released by the university’s Student Council, which urged calm while assuring students that security agencies had been mobilised to the campus to manage the situation and conduct a thorough sweep.

The council noted that the institution had activated a multi-agency security response involving the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, and the Nigerian Navy, all working in coordination with university authorities to restore order and ensure the safety of students and staff.

Students were strictly advised not to move around campus until an official “all-clear” announcement is made, as part of precautionary measures to prevent any potential risk during the ongoing security operation.

The advisory also warned that students might hear controlled sounds or gunfire-like noises, explaining that such occurrences were linked to security operations being carried out across designated areas of the campus and should not be mistaken for an attack.

It further reassured the university community that armed personnel deployed on campus were present solely to secure the environment and protect lives and property, while urging students to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activity to campus security officials.

The Student Council added that both the university administration and security agencies were actively monitoring developments in real time and would continue to provide official updates as the situation unfolds.

As of the time of filing this report, the exact circumstances surrounding the reported sighting remain unclear, and it is yet to be confirmed whether any arrests were made or if there were any casualties during the operation.
