Dollar Vs Naira Today: New Exchange Rate Emerges For June 17, 2026
The Nigerian foreign exchange market continues to witness varying rates across different trading platforms, with the parallel market maintaining a noticeable gap from the official exchange window.
According to market information obtained by Ireporter Online, the United States dollar exchanged for ₦1,400 on the selling side and ₦1,390 on the buying side at the Lagos parallel market, popularly referred to as the black market or Aboki FX, on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. The rates were gathered from Bureau De Change (BDC) operators actively involved in currency trading.
Meanwhile, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has maintained its position that it does not recognize transactions conducted in the parallel market. The apex bank continues to advise individuals and businesses seeking foreign exchange services to carry out such transactions through authorized financial institutions.
At the official market, the CBN recorded the highest exchange rate for the dollar at ₦1,359, while the lowest rate stood at ₦1,355.
Currency traders and financial analysts have also noted that exchange rates may differ across locations and dealers, meaning the actual buying or selling price available to customers could vary from the figures quoted in the market due to prevailing demand and supply conditions.
