Abubakar Momoh Praises NDDC, NEDC, Urges Nigerians To Expect More From New Development Commissions

The Minister of Regional Development, Hon. Engr. Abubakar Momoh FNSE, has commended the outstanding performance of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the North East Development Commission (NEDC), describing their impact as a clear demonstration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in action.

Speaking on the achievements of the agencies under his supervision, Momoh noted that both commissions have delivered landmark projects that are changing lives and rebuilding communities across the regions.

He cited the NDDC’s giant strides — from the completion of the 25.3km Ogbia–Nembe Road in Bayelsa State with seven bridges and 53 culverts, to the Okitipupa 132KV Transmission Substation in Ondo State, the Amufi Injection Substation in Edo State, and thousands of solar streetlights and rural electrification projects lighting up Niger Delta communities.

On the other hand, the Minister praised the NEDC’s massive housing intervention, which has provided over 700 completed housing units to resettle families displaced by insurgency in Borno, Yobe, and Taraba States. He also highlighted the Commission’s investments in mega schools, ICT and skill centres, solar boreholes, health facilities, and roads that are restoring dignity to communities across the North-East.

According to Momoh, these achievements prove that development commissions can deliver real change when properly coordinated and supervised. He assured Nigerians that the newly established regional development commissions — including those for the South-East, South-West, North-West, North-Central, and South-South — will be structured to replicate and even surpass these successes.

> “The NDDC and NEDC have done well. They are testaments to what is possible when vision meets commitment. Nigerians should expect even more from the new development commissions as we strengthen regional integration, expand infrastructure, and empower our people under the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President,” Momoh declared.

The Minister reaffirmed his resolve to ensure that every region feels the impact of development, stressing that the MRD will continue to coordinate and monitor the agencies to guarantee transparency, accountability, and results that touch the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
