According to Ireporter Online, the Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to life imprisonment. Justice James Omotosho delivered the ruling on Thursday, imposing life sentences on counts one, two, four, five, and six, opting against the death penalty.

Kanu was also handed a 20-year prison term on count three and a five-year term on count seven, both without the option of fines. The verdict followed Kanu’s conviction on all seven counts of terrorism-related offenses. During the proceedings, the judge described Kanu as an “international terrorist,” underscoring the severity of his actions.

Kanu’s legal team has indicated plans to appeal the judgment.
