BREAKING: Tinubu Reveals Successful Rescue Operation For 38 Worshippers In Kwara
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday confirmed the rescue of all 38 worshippers who were abducted earlier in the week from the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eruku, in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State. According to Ireporter Online, the President reiterated that his administration remains firmly committed to ensuring the safety of every citizen across the country.
In a statement released on his verified X account, @officialABAT, President Tinubu disclosed that the rescue was achieved after several days of coordinated security operations, which he personally oversaw following his decision to cancel his planned trip to the G20 Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The President wrote that the security agencies had worked round the clock to secure the victims, adding, “You will recall that I cancelled my trip to the G20 Summit in South Africa to enable me to coordinate the security efforts at home. Thanks to the efforts of our security forces over the last few days, all the 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State, have been rescued.”
He also confirmed the recovery of 51 students kidnapped from a Catholic school in Niger State, stressing that he continues to receive real-time security updates from operational commanders nationwide.
According to Ireporter Online, President Tinubu vowed to intensify pressure on criminal networks and reaffirmed his resolve to strengthen national security. “Let me be clear: I will not relent. Every Nigerian, in every state, has the right to safety, and under my watch, we will secure this nation and protect our people,” he assured.
The President commended the security forces for their dedication, adding that the government would continue to reinforce intelligence systems, response mechanisms, and inter-agency collaboration in the fight against terrorism, banditry, and related threats.
The rescue operation comes amid growing public concern over rising abductions in parts of the Northwest and North-Central regions, prompting the President to authorize additional troop deployments and intensified counter-terrorism operations.
