CAF Confederation Cup: Kwara United, Abia Warriors Bow Out In Disappointment

Nigerian clubs, Kwara United and Abia Warriors, have been eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup after failing to progress beyond the first preliminary round. According to Ireporter Online, Kwara United’s campaign ended on Sunday following a 1-0 defeat to Ghana’s Asante Kotoko at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta. Having earlier lost 4-3 in the first leg, the Harmony Boys bowed out 5-3 on aggregate.
Abia Warriors also suffered the same fate after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Malian side Djoliba, who advanced with a 2-1 aggregate victory. Both clubs, who represented Nigeria in the tournament, have now exited the competition at the opening stage, a result that has further dampened the country’s presence on the continental scene.
