From “African Queen” To Iconic Legacy — 2Baba Marks 25 Years In Music, Turns 50

According to Ireporter Online, legendary Nigerian musician Innocent Ujah Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, is set to celebrate a remarkable double milestone — 25 years in the music industry and his 50th birthday — with an elaborate event scheduled for Friday, November 14, at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja. The celebration, tagged “The 2Baba Experience… May I Know You Again,” is being organized by Yankee Entertainment and promises to be a star-studded affair drawing top figures from the entertainment world, politics, business, and his vast fan base across Nigeria and beyond.

Speaking during a press briefing in Abuja, Mallam Yankee of Yankee Entertainment highlighted 2Baba’s extraordinary musical journey, which began in the late 1990s when he joined forces with Blackface and Faze to form the iconic group, Plantashun Boiz. The group’s success paved the way for 2Baba’s solo career, which would later redefine contemporary African music.

Born in Benue State, 2Baba attended Mount Saint Gabriel Secondary School before studying at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu. His decision to pursue music full-time, Mallam Yankee noted, was once seen as risky but ultimately opened doors for countless young Nigerians who later found purpose in entertainment.

Since going solo, 2Baba has released multiple hit albums and singles, including the global anthem “African Queen,” a timeless classic that gained international acclaim and helped shape the global Afrobeats movement. Known for his thought-provoking lyrics and socially conscious messages, he has consistently used his music to promote love, unity, and accountability while addressing social issues.

Mallam Yankee described 2Baba as a humble, grounded, and family-oriented individual who, despite fame and occasional controversies, remains deeply committed to his values and loved ones. He noted that the forthcoming event is particularly symbolic as it coincides with his wife’s birthday.
