My Darkest Days: Tiwa Savage Breaks Silence on Sex Tape Trauma and Father’s Death
Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage has described the 2021 leak of her private sex tape and the subsequent death of her father as the most difficult periods of her life. In a candid YouTube interview with British media personality Zeze Mills that went viral on Friday, the award-winning singer revealed how she coped with these back-to-back tragedies.
“The two hardest things happened almost at once – my dad passed away and then my private video got leaked,” Savage shared. “The only way I could survive was by not dwelling on it.” The “Somebody’s Son” hitmaker admitted she deliberately avoided thinking about the scandal, which emerged after she reported being blackmailed over the intimate footage.
Expressing gratitude for her continued relevance in the industry, Savage reflected: “Just being here years later, with people still wanting to hear my story – that’s a blessing. But I wonder, have I truly enjoyed my success after all I’ve been through?”
The interview has sparked widespread reactions from fans, many praising the singer’s resilience. Industry analysts note Savage’s ability to maintain her career trajectory despite these personal setbacks underscores her status as one of Afrobeats’ most enduring talents.
