According to reports, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, has issued a stern warning to political appointees who remain loyal to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stating that decisive action will be taken against them.

The warning follows the recent dismissal of two officials who defied the governor’s directive and attended the PDP national convention. Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of the new Head of the Civil Service, Elsie Anietie Peters, Governor Eno emphasized that his administration expects unwavering loyalty from all appointees.

“You cannot serve two masters at the same time. Those who partake in the resources of this government must stand up and be counted. Anyone unwilling to serve faithfully is free to step aside,” the governor stated.

The Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, highlighted that the appointment of Peters underscores the administration’s commitment to enhancing professionalism and productivity within the civil service. Peters assumes the role following the retirement of her predecessor, Elder Effiong Essien, and has been encouraged to view her appointment as both a call to duty and a vital step toward reforming the state’s administrative structure.
