University Of Ibadan Warns: Complete Your ODeL Application Before Midnight Deadline

The University of Ibadan has advised prospective students seeking admission into its Open, Distance, and e-Learning (ODeL) programmes to finalize their applications on or before October 10, 2025.

According to Ireporter Online, the directive was contained in a statement issued by the Director of the Distance Learning Centre (DLC), Professor Babatunde Omobowale, who emphasized that the UI-ODeL platform offers a flexible and credible pathway to earning a University of Ibadan degree.

He explained that the ODeL model was designed to cater to qualified candidates who are unable to secure placement through conventional Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) limits or those requiring flexible study arrangements due to professional or personal commitments.

Professor Omobowale also announced that the matriculation ceremony for new intakes is scheduled for Saturday, October 30, 2025, at the University of Ibadan International Conference Centre. He described the event as a compulsory and symbolic ceremony that formally welcomes new students into the institution’s academic community.

Highlighting one of the key features of the ceremony, the Director disclosed that the matriculation lecture will be delivered by three distinguished first-class graduates from the UI-ODeL programme. These include Olalekan Akolade Abass (Computer Science), Akindubi Jelili Babatunde (Psychology), and Okoye Mark (Political Science), who will share insights on achieving excellence through the ODeL learning model.

The Director further encouraged interested applicants with the requisite O’ Level qualifications—five credits in one sitting or six in two sittings—to apply for various programmes across Science, Social Sciences, and Humanities, including Computer Science, Economics, Political Science, English, Sociology, and Educational Management, among others.

He reaffirmed that the final deadline for submission and updates of applications is midnight on Friday, October 10, 2025, via the official portal at https://modeofstudy.ui.edu.ng/.
