In a statement, the PDP’s Publicity Secretary, Hon. Maria Dogo, noted that this alarming incident took place on January 1, 2025, during Senator Usman’s inspection of ongoing constituency projects in the Kaduna North Local Government Area.

The PDP is calling for an immediate investigation into the incident, along with the arrest and prosecution of both the attackers and their sponsors. Additionally, the party is advocating for enhanced security measures to protect elected representatives and their families.

The PDP stresses that it will not remain passive while the lives of its elected officials are jeopardized. “The ballot box, not violence, is the legitimate means of transferring power,” the statement emphasizes.

The party encourages its members to prioritize constructive initiatives and programs within the senatorial zone to foster goodwill among the people, rather than resorting to violence.

They also urge party members and concerned citizens in the Kaduna Central senatorial district to maintain calm and peace while they pursue all legal avenues to ensure justice for the attempt on Senator Usman’s life.

As highlighted by the state chairman in his New Year message, the PDP is dedicated to defending democracy in Kaduna State and ensuring that the voices of the people are heard.
