According to Ireporter Online, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former two-time Senator representing Edo South Senatorial District, Ehigie Uzamere, has formally resigned from the party.

Uzamere, a known ally of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, was recently sighted among key political figures who attended the inauguration meeting of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Edo State, sparking speculation about his next political move.

In a resignation letter dated October 7, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward 12 Chairman in Ovia North-East Local Government Area, Osaigbovo Godspower, Uzamere explained that his decision was based on personal conviction and a renewed commitment to serve his constituents more effectively.

He emphasized that his exit was not motivated by bitterness but by the need to align with a political platform that better reflects his vision for public service. “Politics, at its best, is a vehicle for service and representation—a means through which leaders demonstrate their commitment to the welfare of the people,” Uzamere wrote.

He added that with Nigeria’s political landscape evolving, it had become necessary to find a platform that aligns with his principles. “In doing so, I remain guided by my philosophy of Aiguiyekampe—politics without bitterness. My decision is driven by conviction, not animosity,” the letter further stated.

The former senator also expressed gratitude to the PDP for the opportunities it provided him during his political journey. Uzamere first won election to the Senate on the PDP platform in 2007 and was re-elected in 2011 under the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), which later merged into the All Progressives Congress (APC).

His resignation marks another major shift in Edo’s political dynamics as the state prepares for upcoming elections.
