Reality TV Star DeeOne Clinches Lagos Assembly Ticket
Popular Big Brother Naija reality star and comedian, Aderombi Adedayo Martins, widely known as DeeOne, has secured the BOOT Party’s ticket to contest for the Ibeju-Lekki Constituency I seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to reports, DeeOne emerged victorious in the party’s primary election, earning the mandate to represent the BOOT Party in the forthcoming legislative contest.
Reacting to his victory, the entertainer expressed gratitude to members of the party for entrusting him with the opportunity to fly its flag. In a message shared on his social media platform on Wednesday, he described his emergence as a strong vote of confidence in his ability to serve and represent the interests of the people of Ibeju-Lekki Constituency I.
DeeOne pledged to approach public service with humility if elected in 2027, stressing that his goal is to work for the people rather than exercise authority over them. He assured constituents that he would remain committed to advancing their interests and delivering effective representation.
His emergence adds to the growing list of entertainers venturing into politics as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum across the country.
In a related development, Nollywood actress and producer Esther Okereke recently emerged as the presidential candidate of the National Rescue Movement (NRM) for the 2027 election. She secured the party’s ticket after defeating other contenders, including former Labour Party presidential aspirant Joseph Faduri and businessman Ademola Onigbokun, during the party’s primary election in Abuja.
Okereke’s emergence places her among the few women in Nigeria’s democratic history to secure a presidential ticket from a political party. She is expected to join a field of opposition candidates preparing to challenge President Bola Tinubu in what analysts predict could be a fiercely contested election.
Presenting her as the party’s standard-bearer, Chinedu Obi said the NRM remains committed to providing leadership capable of tackling Nigeria’s pressing economic and security concerns.
