The Nigerian naira continued to trade against the United States dollar at the parallel market, commonly referred to as the black market or Aboki FX market, with traders quoting the currency at ₦1,406 per dollar for selling and ₦1,396 per dollar for buying on Friday, June 19, 2026.

According to Ireporter Online, the latest figures obtained from Bureau De Change (BDC) operators in Lagos indicate that the unofficial foreign exchange market maintained a noticeable gap from the rates available through the official window.

At the official market regulated by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the highest exchange rate for the dollar stood at ₦1,374, while the lowest rate was recorded at ₦1,365.

The CBN has consistently maintained that it does not recognize or regulate transactions carried out in the parallel market and has advised individuals and businesses seeking foreign exchange services to obtain their forex through authorized commercial banks and other approved financial institutions.

Market observers also noted that black market exchange rates are subject to fluctuations based on demand and supply dynamics, meaning the actual buying and selling prices may vary across different locations and traders.
