The air component of Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai has intensified its offensive against insurgents in Borno State, eliminating 27 terrorists during separate air interdiction missions carried out in key hideouts across the state.

According to security reports, the operations targeted terrorist enclaves located in the Southern and Northern Tumbus areas following extensive Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) activities conducted across the North-East theatre.

The report disclosed that air assets, including Dragon and ISR platforms, launched an air interdiction mission at Dawoshe, a known terrorist stronghold in the Southern Tumbus area, at approximately 12:40 a.m. on June 10. During the operation, aerial surveillance identified vehicles belonging to the insurgents, which were subsequently engaged by the aircraft.

Post-strike assessments indicated that the vehicles were successfully destroyed, while 12 terrorists were neutralised in the assault.

On the same day, the air component carried out another precision strike on terrorist positions in Metele, located in the Northern Tumbus area of Guzamala Local Government Area. Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) and Human Intelligence (HUMINT) reports later confirmed that 15 terrorists were eliminated during the operation.

Military sources stated that the coordinated strikes dealt a significant setback to terrorist elements operating within the Lake Chad fringes and Tumbus hideouts, disrupting their activities and weakening their operational capacity.

The operations are part of ongoing efforts by the Armed Forces of Nigeria to degrade terrorist capabilities, dismantle logistics networks, and deny insurgents freedom of movement across the North-East region.

The report reaffirmed the military’s commitment to sustaining offensive operations against terrorist strongholds until lasting peace and security are fully restored, noting that a total of 27 terrorists were neutralised during the period under review.
