The Association of Nigerian Artisans and Technicians (ASNAT) has congratulated President Bola Tinubu on securing the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket for the 2027 election, while pledging to mobilise support for his re-election campaign across Nigeria’s 176,846 polling units.

According to a statement issued in Abuja by the association’s Head of New Media, Abdulkadir Salihu (IBN), ASNAT described Tinubu’s emergence as the party’s flagbearer as a deserved recognition of his leadership and applauded the economic and social reforms implemented under his administration.

The association expressed confidence that the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda had established a solid foundation for Nigeria’s long-term transformation and maintained that a second term would enable him to consolidate ongoing development initiatives for the benefit of the country.

While acknowledging that many artisans and technicians had faced economic challenges over the past three years, ASNAT attributed some of the difficulties to shortcomings in government agencies and parastatals responsible for implementing policies affecting the sector. Despite this, the group noted that its members had benefited from several flagship programmes introduced by the current administration.

Among the initiatives highlighted were the federal government’s tax reforms, which exempt artisans and small businesses with annual turnovers of ₦100 million or less and fixed assets not exceeding ₦250 million from Companies Income Tax and other related levies. The association said the policy had removed obligations such as the four per cent development levy, Capital Gains Tax and Value Added Tax for many small-scale operators, providing much-needed financial relief.

ASNAT also commended the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), stating that the student loan scheme had eased access to higher education for many Nigerian families, including children of artisans and technicians.

The association further praised major infrastructure projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, expressing optimism that the projects would create new economic opportunities and improve livelihoods for artisans and technicians upon completion.

Reaffirming its commitment to the President’s political future, ASNAT said it would replicate the level of support it provided during the 2023 elections by leveraging its nationwide network across all polling units to advance the Renewed Hope vision.

However, the group urged President Tinubu to exercise greater caution in selecting aides, heads of ministries, departments and agencies, as well as chief executives of government parastatals, if re-elected. It argued that the success of Nigeria’s ongoing reforms would depend significantly on the competence, loyalty and patriotism of those entrusted with implementing government policies.

ASNAT stressed that avoiding the perceived shortcomings of some first-term appointments would be essential to sustaining national transformation and ensuring that the gains already recorded translate into greater benefits for artisans, technicians and the wider Nigerian population.

The association concluded by wishing the President success in his future political aspirations and reaffirmed its unwavering support for his administration and re-election bid.
