Sultan Calls For Prayers Against Bandits, Terrorists And “Enemies Of Nigeria
According to Ireporter Online, the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), led by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has called on Muslims across Nigeria to intensify prayers seeking divine intervention over the country’s worsening security situation and to pray against those behind acts of violence and insecurity.
The call was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Secretary-General of JNI, Prof. Khalid Abubakar Aliyu, in which the Sultan urged faithful Muslims to take advantage of the spiritual significance of the Islamic months of Tasu’a and Ashoora to pray for peace, stability, and national security.
He further encouraged Muslims to remain steadfast in worship, uphold moral values, and continue to be law-abiding citizens despite the nation’s prevailing challenges. The Sultan also emphasized the need for optimism and trust in divine intervention, drawing parallels from the story of Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) and Pharaoh to illustrate the belief in Allah’s power to overcome oppression and insecurity.
He noted that just as Allah delivered Prophet Musa and his followers from oppression, Nigerians should similarly seek divine help against what he described as murderous bandits, insurgents, and kidnappers disturbing the peace of the country.
The JNI leader stressed that the current security realities make it necessary for intensified supplications, calling for prayers for the “destruction of enemies of the Nigerian state” while also urging continuous repentance and seeking of forgiveness through Istighfar.
Quoting Islamic teachings, the statement highlighted the importance of persistent prayer and repentance, noting that such acts attract divine relief and mercy. It also referenced a saying of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), stressing that consistent seeking of forgiveness brings relief from hardship.
The JNI reiterated that Nigerians, especially Muslims, must combine prayers with righteous conduct and support for lawful efforts aimed at restoring peace, unity, and security across the nation amid ongoing challenges such as banditry, kidnapping, and insurgency.
