2Baba Laments Blackface’s Longstanding Attempts to Tarnish His Image

Veteran Nigerian singer, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Face or 2Baba, has expressed deep frustration over the persistent fallout with his former bandmate, Blackface, accusing him of repeatedly attempting to tarnish his reputation.

Speaking during an interview with media personality Nedu, 2Baba confirmed they once collaborated musically, admitting he wrote most of their hit songs together. However, he said he remains puzzled by Blackface’s continued public attacks.

“It was a collaboration. I wrote most of the song actually, but we wrote it together. I don’t know what his intentions were, and I don’t know what I ever did to him,” 2Baba said.

He lamented, “I’ve always shown him respect, but he has always been out there trying to smear my name. It’s absurd, ridiculous, and very painful at times. And till today, I just wonder why. That’s the only thing in my head — what’s the reason? It’s just ridiculous.”

The iconic musician also used the platform to address his separation from actress Annie Macaulay, his wife of over a decade.

Naija News recalls that 2Baba announced in January 2025 that he and Annie had ended their marriage after tying the knot in May 2012. The singer has since revealed he is in a relationship with Edo State lawmaker, Natasha Osawaru.

Speaking on the 234 Mzansi Podcast hosted by Nedu, the 49-year-old said they both gave the marriage their best shot but decided to go their separate ways when things no longer worked.

He declined to share in-depth details, instead describing Annie as “an amazing woman,” and stressing that no one should feel pressured to remain in an unhappy marriage.

2Baba also reiterated his controversial view that it is biologically difficult for men to remain sexually committed to just one woman, a statement that has stirred wide reactions online.
