I Am Not Broke – 2Baba Debunks Rumours, Flaunts His Investments

Veteran Nigerian Afrobeats star, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has dismissed widespread speculations suggesting he is struggling financially, boasting that he remains financially secure with or without music.

Speaking on the +234 Mzansi Podcast hosted by popular media personality, Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, also known as Nedu, the ‘African Queen’ crooner clarified that contrary to rumours, he is far from broke.

2Baba explained that he wisely channelled his earnings from music into various business ventures, ensuring he can live comfortably even if he decides to quit music entirely.

“I’m not broke. I invested my money. I can live with or without music,” he said.

Regarded as one of the most bankable artists in Nigeria and across Africa, 2Baba reportedly holds substantial stakes in real estate, the hospitality sector, and owns his own record label.

Meanwhile, the music icon expressed his frustration over the lingering feud with his former bandmate, Blackface, revealing that he remains baffled by the relentless attempts to tarnish his image despite the respect he has always accorded him.

Speaking on their musical history, 2Baba acknowledged that while they collaborated on many songs, he was responsible for writing most of the hit tracks.

“It was a collaboration. I wrote most of the song actually, but we did it together,” he explained.

He continued, “I’ve always shown him respect, but he has consistently been out there trying to smear my name. It’s absurd, ridiculous and very painful. Till today, I still wonder why. What’s the reason? It’s just ridiculous.”
